There have been many Spider-Man movies over the years and different actors to portray this super hero. Tobey Maguire was the first actor to portray this character in a major motion picture. Because he is the original, he is often viewed as the first true Spider-Man by fans.[i] As a result, his natal chart may offer some interesting correlations to the character. Let us look at some of the major dynamics.

Uranus conjunct the IC
Uranus’ presence at the 4th house cusp can reflect some type of disruption in early family life or with the parents. The tightness of this alignment (partile) is also symbolic of the intensity of manifestation. For Peter Parker, this was the loss of both of his parents as a child and the chaos this injected into his early upbringing.
The 12th House
As a result of their disappearance, Peter was then raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Uncle Ben was the brother of Peter’s father. Since the 3rd house represents siblings and the 10th house often represents the father, then the 3rd from the 10th brings us to the 12th house. The 12th house represents Uncle Ben. The Sun’s placement in this house shows how Peter defines himself through his relationship to Uncle Ben. This relationship would define Peter the rest of his life.
When Peter first obtained his super powers, he wanted to use them to become rich and famous. This is a good correlation to this Ascendant in Leo. Peter was expressing this narcissism of the Ascendant and only cared for himself. When there was a chance opportunity to stop a criminal that ran past him. He did nothing. He did not think it was his problem. That same criminal eventually murdered his Uncle Ben later.
Saturn & Pluto
The 12th house also represents our undoing. Sometimes, it is thought to contain our karma. Here, this karma is more explicitly expressed in two different ways. First, it is represented in the square from Pluto to the Sun. Pluto represents the archetype of power. As Spider-Man, Peter had the power to stop the criminal. By not doing so, he invited the square from Pluto to painfully teach him a lesson that his uncle tried to pass on to him: with great power, comes great responsibility. The “responsibility” part of that lesson is connected to Saturn as this planet is literally the archetype of responsibility and punishment for not living up to it. With Saturn’s debilitation in Cancer and at the apex of a t-square (with Uranus, Chiron, Mars & Jupiter), this lesson would become a driving force of stress in his life and define his sense of self through the trauma that Pluto unleashed on him. This is how the 12th house became an area of solitude where Peter agonizes over his irresponsibility that led to the death of someone he loved.
Moon in Aquarius
This scenario impacted him emotionally as well. The Moon is the ruler of the 12th and placed in the 7th, which in turn is the 8th house (death) from the 12th (again, Uncle). The mutual reception between Saturn and Moon shows the connection between this lesson, the death of the uncle and Peter’s emotional state that would force him to become more independent (Aquarius quality).
This Aquarian Moon also disposits the Sun and compelled Peter to become something different and unique. The partile opposition to 1st house Venus in Leo hints at his decision to become something larger than life that is highly visible. Venus’ rulership of the 4th house as well as its conjunction to the midpoint of Sun/Pluto reflects his decision to use his power to become something that would showcase what he learned growing up. He would become a hero. The complication is that the Sun is buried and hidden away in the 12th house. So how does he become something very visible, but also remain hidden? He must adopt a secret identity (Sun is chart ruler).
Mercury in Gemini
In regards to Spider-Man’s abilities or talents, we start with the 2nd house. The ruler of this house is Mercury in Gemini. Mercury is strong in the sign of its ruler ship. Most immediately, this represents Peter’s high intelligence. He was a science whiz in school and even invented the web shooters and webbing that became a key piece of his equipment. Mercury in Gemini is also quick, agile, and fast. But most importantly, Mercury is placed in the 11th house. In some respects, this area of life is supposed to represent our hopes and dreams for the future. People with a heavy emphasis of bodies in this house may focus much of their energy on the future. Here, this potential becomes a bit literal with unique ability of Spider-Man’s spider sense. This sense warns Spider-Man of danger before it occurs. It is literally telling him the future. Mercury’s loose opposition to Neptune infers that he senses (almost psychically) information from somewhere else that warns him when something bad is about to happen. When you combine this sense with all his other abilities and the natural power infused into him via Pluto, Spider-Man is an individual of immense powers and abilities. Mercury’s trine and sextile to both sides of the Moon – Venus polarity shows how these powers and abilities would help in becoming a very flashy and heroic force for good.
Saturn Revisited
He will need these powers because he has enemies. The 7th house represents open enemies and the 12th house represents hidden enemies. In this chart, the ruler of the 7th is in the 12th. Again, we return to Saturn. Its debilitated placement represents the potential for this archetype to manifest differently, sometimes in dysfunctional ways. With Saturn in Cancer, Spider-Man’s enemies are uncaring, unemotional, and devious (12th house potential). Their battle is fierce due to the Aries Stellium (Chiron-Mars-Jupiter) at the base of the t-square. This Stellium feels a little bit like a battle royale. In the stories, Spider-Man is often taking on multiple enemies at once. This is what that feels like.
Lack of Earth
Another area of concern in this chart is the noticeable lack of earth. This translates to a lack of stability and is reflected in Peter’s somewhat modest childhood, missing members of his family, but also his struggles with finances and shelter as an adult (he was too busy being a super hero).
It is wild how accurately this chart reflects the fictional character biography for Spider-Man. Maguire did not create this character, but portrayal of character is one of the most well-loved so it is not surprising to see a high level of synchronicity between Maguire’s energies and the story of the character he portrayed.
[i] I am sure that many people will reference Nicholas Hammond as the first actor to play the role of Spider-Man. This is accurate, but it should also be noted that this portrayal was for a TV show and not a movie. Worldwide film releases tend to be major cultural events that demand a bit more significance than most other forms of entertainment. In my opinion, the charts for the actors in these movies carry more resonance in their correlations as well.
