Winning & Losing: Analyzing the Part of Victory

About a year and a half ago I posted an article analyzing the part (or lot) of fortune (POF). That lengthy analysis dove deep into the impact that this all-important calculated point had on the lives of some of the most famously wealthy individuals. I promised a follow up to that article, so this addendum is a little overdue. Of all the original seven hermetic lots, I was not sure which one deserved a closer look. Many of them appear interesting, but they just do not get me as jazzed as the POF. For me, unraveling and understanding fate (in all its capacities) is a huge attraction. I think that this part of existence is grossly underappreciated and minimized, often to our detriment.[i] In fact, this is a major reason that I gravitate towards astrology for it is the best system I have found for analyzing fate. The POF offers a literal viewpoint into this dynamic. One could realistically interpret this calculated point as luck. How much of it does one have? Where do they find it? How do they work with it? Specifically, what degree of effort or work is required to actualize the fortune it brings to our lives? The parts offer specific insight into these questions because the calculations of their positions and placements are so heavily tailored to the unique structure of any individual natal chart. In this line of thought, I find myself continuously returning to the part of victory (POV). With its association with contests and success, this part can be as significant as the part of fortune. Modern society has become so insanely competitive (especially in the west). We tend to divide up everyone into broad categories of winners and losers. Of course, this level of simplistic reduction can be vague because these categories are fairly subjective and there is often little introspection or analysis as to why someone may end up in either category. But there is an area of our lives where these categories are easily and specifically defined: sports. This area has become an accurate reflection of the intensity we place on competition. In many respects, professional sports have become the primary focus of our current stage of civilization. It is not an exaggeration to say that sports are an obsession for most people. Almost everyone has dreams of being worshipped as some kind of sports icon. But at the professional level many critics have noted that the actual variation in physical ability amongst various athletes is practically infinitesimal. In other words, almost all athletes that reach the professional level are amazingly talented and practice tirelessly. If this is true, then why do some athletes become successful while others do not? Evidence of this phenomenon can be seen in the number of athletes who have been inducted into the hall of fame for their sport, but have never won a major title, tournament, or final game. Why is that? What separates these athletes and makes some historic champions while others never win anything? As we saw with our analysis of the POF, astrology can have something to say about this. But, while the POF is more of a general indicator of luck and fortune, the POV may be seen as a more specific indicator of winning in scenarios that are competitive where success is more narrowly or clearly defined. Can a POV be so strong that it can swing the outcome of a contest (even those that are team based) and define the overall trajectory of an athlete towards one that is defined by winning?

The following four athletes are considered by many to be in the conversation as the greatest of all time (GOAT) in their respective sports mainly because of their ability to win consistently and against all odds. In evaluating the POV for each, we will adhere to the same guidelines and considerations that were detailed within the POF analysis. For example:

  1. Both the POV and its lord will be considered.
  2. Placements within the angular houses (1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th) are the strongest and most active. Succedent, moderate. Cadent, the weakest and least active. The whole sign house methodology will be used in making these determinations.
  3. Sect status of the lord of the POV. Those within sect will be interpreted as more effective. Those out of sect will be interpreted as less effective.
  4. The condition and placement of the lord will be interpreted as the individual’s personal involvement in manifesting the success of the POV.
  5. Aspects from the benefics to the POV and its lord will be interpreted as beneficial and supportive. Aspects from the malefics will be interpreted as detrimental or destructive.
  6. Dignity of the lord will be interpreted as supportive. Debility will be interpreted as challenges and difficulties in achieving success.
  7. Aspects between the lords of the POF and POV.

For those who would like to explore this part and its lord in their charts, the calculation is simple. Please use the following methodology in location this part in your chart:

  • Day Chart: Ascendant + Jupiter – Part of Spirit (POS)[ii]
  • Night Chart: Ascendant + Part of Spirit – Jupiter

If you are more of a visual person, then for a day chart take the distance from the POS to Jupiter (in zodiacal order) and then add that distance to the ascendant (again, in zodiacal order). For a night chart, take the distance from Jupiter to the POS and add that to the ascendant. The symbol used to denote the POV is a simple “V.” To assist with the visual identification, the POV and its lord have been circled in purple. With these general guidelines and methodologies in place, let us look at some of these icons.

Michael Jordan

Jordan is the only individual on this list who was also evaluated within the previously cited POF analysis. His POV is at 0° Capricorn and the demeanor of this sign can be seen as a reflection of Jordan’s tremendous work ethic and drive towards achievement. Winning and reputation was a primary importance to him. The angularity of this POV in the 7th house (by whole signs) makes this potential toward winning very active and strong.

Jordan’s ability to win was innovative and there was a certain potential for breaking records, shocking, and surprising others at critical game winning moments was unparalleled. This breakthrough ability was represented by the POV’s trine to Uranus. Jordan’s excitement and inspiration towards winning reflected the out-of-sign sextile to his Sun. This sextile provided the creativity to win in several different ways.

But could Jordan take advantage of his strong and well supported POV? Its lord, Saturn, affirms this convincingly. Saturn is succedent, but also dignified by rulership. Jordan was a capable and effective leader (Saturnian qualities) who could take over a game and drive his team to victory. Saturn is also in sect and aligned with the midpoint of both benefics (Jupiter and Venus) who are also dignified. Additionally, Jupiter is aligned with the midheaven, the cusp of the 10th house of career and reputation. Considering all these characteristics together, Jordan’s POV lord is crazy powerful, so winning was something he did very well. He was unbelievably talented and unstoppable. These alignments are why Jordan had an almost mythological reputation as a fierce competitor.

The opposition to Mars is another amazing connection to the POV lord because Mars is also the lord of the POF. So, in Jordan’s chart we see a rare aspect between the lords of fortune and victory. This opposition between these lords was his awareness that he was great (retrograde Mars in Leo), but also had the discipline and vision (Saturn in Aquarius) to become a sports icon (5th house Neptune in square aspect to both and at the t-square apex). Fortune had smiled upon him by providing physical gifts that others did not possess and victory smiled upon him by providing the awareness to turn those gifts into wins through competition with others. This alignment of powerful factors of fate all but sealed Jordan’s legacy as a consummate winner.

Muhammad Ali

Ali’s POV is at 12° Scorpio. It also angular, but tightly aligned (exact to almost one arc minute) to the cusp of the 4th house, the Imum Coeli (IC). As with Jordan, Ali’s potential for victory is also highly active, but its Scorpio placement yields a different tone to his style of victory. For Ali, his victories will be deeply cathartic, transformative, and carry a certain degree of intensity. As a boxer, this may seem obvious, but Ali’s unique career evoked a degree of emotion not typically found in sports contests. From the “What’s My Name?” fight, to the three grudge matches with Frazier, to his unbelievable “Rumble in the Jungle,” Ali’s contests reached epic proportions of intensity that contained the feel of Scorpio.

But boxing was not the core manifestation of Ali’s POV. His greatest contest was not against an individual athlete, but against his entire country. The placement of his POV on the IC infers this. The tight squares from Chiron in Leo and Moon – Mercury in Aquarius manifested as his decision to change in name (Chiron rising at Ascendant) as well as his stance as a conscientious objector (Aquarius qualities) from the Vietnam War, which resulted in his titles (victories) being stripped from him. The inconjunct (or quincunx) aspect from Jupiter represents the four years of discomfort Ali experienced while appealing a decision to send him to prison for refusing induction. Would Ali win this contest? To answer that question, we must look to the lord of the POV, Mars. This lord is also angular and in sect, but also debilitated in the sign of Taurus. Ali would fight, but he would be the underdog here against a much more powerful opponent (square to Pluto) and with much public opinion against him. But Taurus offers one strength, willpower, and endurance. Ali did not break and eventually the Supreme Court overturned the initial decision and allowed him to fight again. This fight had provided Ali with a blueprint against powerful opponents. A few years later, he challenged George Foreman for the title and we he was once again the underdog. But he employed this strategy (the rope-a-dope) specifically within a sports contest and wore down his opponent. Like his battle with the United States, he won here as well. This victory unleashed his fortune (square to POF) and immortalized his reputation (10th house Mars) permanently.

Tiger Woods

Woods’ POV is at 16° Aquarius. This POV is cadent which seems like a contradiction given Woods’ heavily decorated history of tournament wins. But when we consider his entire history, it starts to make sense. Woods was sidelined and seriously handicapped by health issues involving back injuries and accidents that eventually derailed his career. When considered in this light, the overlay placement within the 5th house (sports) Placidus, but cadent 6th house (health and injury) whole sign makes sense. Health issues and injuries eventually limited the strength of ability to find success.

The reason that he was able to find success in the first place is due to multiple harmonious and supportive aspects from Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and the Moon. This specific alignment is a major configuration known as the cradle.[iii] Cradles are known for their creativity and closed network of support. Individuals with this alignment are often seen to possess some type of unique talent. Woods was a child prodigy in golf. His family recognized this talent and started developing this talent at the age of two. He was groomed and trained throughout childhood to prepare him to become the champion he would eventually grow into. This cradle configuration is symbolic of that support system that cultivated his natural talents that amplified his POV. The involvement of the 4th house ruler (Jupiter) explicitly confirms this manifestation. In fact, Mars’ opposition to the midpoint of Neptune/Moon lying across the IC-MC axis reflects his family’s awareness of his talent (cradle involvement) and they would have to help him cultivate it to make him a winner (POV again).

The lord of the POV is Saturn. Saturn is cadent (weak), but in trine aspect with the ruler of the POF, Venus. As we saw with Jordan, this alignment between the lords of the POV and POF is also powerful for Woods. Additionally, Venus’ status as a benefic greatly amplified the effectiveness of Saturn and their aspects (opposition, sextile) to midheaven ruler Mercury offer overwhelming evidence that Woods was in a great position to actualize the potential offered through his well-supported POV despite its cadent status. The combined effect between the POV’s connection to the cradle and its lord in trine aspect to a benefic POF lord translated into many tournament wins that cemented his status (MC ruler Mercury) as one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game (Leo Saturn).

But there are problems here. Both lords are debilitated and the POV lord (Saturn) is also retrograde and out of sect. This means there is a potential for this lord to act badly in some capacity which could reverse or take away the gains it had provided. This potential is exacerbated by its square to Uranus. In Jordan’s chart, we saw a supportive aspect from Uranus manifest as his ability to continuously break records and shock others with his in-game play. This manifested similarly for Woods, but the square and debilitation also became the affairs (trine to debilitated Venus) with over ten different women. When his bad behavior finally came to light, multiple sponsors dropped him. The intense publicity from this scandal compelled him to take a lengthy hiatus from the game. These impacts are highly reflective of the retrograde reversing his success due to bad behavior. Given the cumulative manifestations connected to his POV and its lord, one must wonder if his family focused too heavily on his talent via the cradle while ignoring the potential of its lord.

Tom Brady

It is fitting that our final entry into this brief analysis of famous athletes ends with the greatest quarterback in the history of football. Across the football spectrum, Brady’s status as the GOAT is unanimous and unquestioned. Over his career, he went to ten Super Bowls, to which he won seven of them.

Brady’s part of victory is at 22° Aquarius. The POV is succedent, trine Jupiter, and opposite its lord, Saturn. This lord offers an interesting trend. With Brady, three of the four athletes in this evaluation have Saturn as the lord of their POV. Assuming this trend maintains over a larger subset, what does this say about an individual’s potential to actualize success and win? Does it speak to the leadership required of winners? Responsibility? Organization? Discipline? These traits may be obvious to anyone, but it is significant that the astrology of this subset is conforming to real life experiences.

Of course, these lords all manifested differently. Jordan’s lord is dignified by rulership and in sect while the lords for Woods and Brady are debilitated being placed in the sign of their detriment. For Woods this manifested even worse because it is cadent, out of sect, and retrograde. For Brady this debilitation was mitigated since it is in sect, succedent, and disposited by his dignified Sun. This debilitation has a correlation to his low draft status upon entry into professional football. In the 2000 draft, Brady was selected 199th by the New England Patriots (six other quarterbacks were selected before him). For an athlete that would become the GOAT, it is surprising how little the NFL thought of him at his arrival. In fact, Brady was not made the starting quarterback until the then starting quarterback went down with an injury. From there, Brady had to prove himself. These dynamics reflect the debilitated condition of the lord as well as the succedent placement of both the POV and its lord. None of this would be given to Brady. He would have to earn it. But the opposition between the debilitated lord and the POV infers that Brady knew he was a winner even if no one else believed in him.[iv]

Despite these challenges, the trine from Jupiter as well as its contribution to the midpoint with the lord offers a huge boost to Brady’s ability to win. But Brady’s manner of winning is unique. He has more come-from-behind victories than any quarterback in the history of the game. The reason for this is that while his lord is debilitated (trailing, behind), he is never out of the game because it is also in sect, disposited by a dignified ruler (Sun in Leo), in aspect to the POV (knows how to win), and both are receiving major assistance from the greater benefic. Additionally, Pluto’s power via midpoint allows Brady to take Jupiter’s benefits and transform the game when behind. These alignments are why Brady built a reputation for being dangerous when trailing late in the game.

While this explains his success in the quarterback position, it does not explain why Brady was so successful in the sport’s ultimate game, the Super Bowl. Ten Super Bowl appearances and seven wins is insane when you compare it to other players in NFL history. No one comes close to this achievement. Brady’s ability to win in the biggest game is such an outlier that it demands a closer inspection. What we find when we put this under the astrological microscope is that it has as much to do with the timing of the year as anything else. With the POV at 22° Aquarius, this transiting degree of the Sun corresponds to a date around the beginning of February. Typically, the Super Bowl is played around this time as well. This means that the transiting Sun is somewhere within the vicinity of Brady’s POV (along with Mercury and Venus since they transit close to the Sun) every year around Super Bowl time.[v] These transiting planets are activating his ability to win. This is why most NFL teams fear meeting Brady in the playoffs or the Super Bowl. They know that his performance and ability elevate during this time. They cannot explain it, but they have experienced it. This is why that is.

But we cannot just leave it here. To fully understand Brady’s heightened ability to win at the biggest game, we need to analyze each Super Bowl appearance. This will offer a line of sight into the exact dynamics that contributed to his ability to win (and lose).[vi]

Tom Brady Super Bowls

Super Bowl 36 (Win): Patriots 20, Rams 17

The Rams were heavily favored to win this game, so this win represented one of the biggest upsets in the past 30 years. The supportive transits to Brady’s chart are overwhelming. The kite configuration involving transit Mars (at apex), natal Pluto, transit Neptune, transit Saturn, and natal Mars and part of fortune turned Brady into a sports icon. Of note, as the lord of Brady’s POV, transit Saturn unleashed his fortune and luck by aligning with the POF and manifesting victory. This connection between the POF and POV is a trend that this analysis has confirmed to be powerful and this example is more evidence of that.

But the biggest boost to Brady’s chances at winning was transit Sun – Venus – Uranus aligned with his POV. Keep in mind that he and the Patriots were heavy underdogs coming into this game. This is exactly the type of situation that Brady’s chart is built for. With the Sun activating his POV, the benefic Venus offering support, and Uranus challenging the mainstream expectations, Brady went to work. With the score tied, he got the ball with less than two minutes in the game, and his debilitated lord did what it does best. It drove down the field and set up the game winning field goal as time expired. Brady had arrived (transit North Node conjunct natal Jupiter) as his POV announced its presence as a force to be reckoned with.

Super Bowl 38 (Win): Patriots 32, Panthers 29

Brady did not enjoy the same number of powerful transits as he experienced for his last Super Bowl two years earlier. Transit Pluto’s sextile and trine aspects to the natal POV and its lord gave Brady some power to transform the outcome of the game. Transit Sun and Neptune opposite the lord offered the motivation to Brady and their tight trine his natal POF and Mars elevated his performance and earned him a second MVP.

But the transit nodal axis in square aspect to his POV and lord made things difficult. This game was tight until the last second. Fortunately, the transit Moon was in tight trine to his natal POV and conjunction to his natal Jupiter. The movement of this fast-moving trigger had the final say on this contest as it tightened its connections. Brady’s aspects were not as strong as last time, but just strong enough to escape with another win.

Super Bowl 39 (Win): Patriots 24, Eagles 21

For this Super Bowl the transit Sun had returned to its alignment with Brady’s natal POV. As we have seen earlier, this has been a supportive activation for his ability to win. Transit Pluto’s slow-moving sextile to natal POV was still in orb and this aspect had empowered Brady for over a year, amplifying his chances at victory. The most powerful contact this time around came from transit Jupiter. Its conjunction to the natal North Node and trine to the POV are powerful enough to account for the win all by itself. Overall, these were not an overwhelming number of aspects, but enough to satisfy the conditions of victory from his POV. It should be noted that this was the first Super Bowl when Brady did not win the MVP as well.

Super Bowl 42 (Loss): Patriots 14, Giants 17

While Brady’s first Super Bowl win represented one of the biggest upsets in decades, this Super Bowl upset would be even bigger. In fact, most critics consider this upset to be the biggest in NFL history. The problem is that Brady was on the wrong side of it this time. The Patriots were coming into this game after the only undefeated season in NFL history and were heavily favored. This is a problem as we have seen that Brady’s chart works best when he is the underdog or coming from behind. As strange as it may sound, being so heavily favored misaligned his energies.

Brady was no longer enjoying the supportive aspect from transit Pluto, but there were plenty of other aspects supporting Brady’s chances. Transit Mars’ conjunction to Jupiter and trine to the POV offered good support. Transit Saturn’s (POV lord) conjunction with natal Mercury (POF lord) offered better support as does the transiting stellium of bodies in Capricorn forming trine aspects to natal Mercury. But these supportive relationships were countered by the direct alignments to the POV and its lord. The transit Sun once again offered motivation and activation, but this was unfortunately accompanied by transit Chiron as well, which handicapped the Sun’s effectiveness at activating victory. But the biggest problem with these transits was transit Mercury and Neptune aligned with the POV and its lord. Mercury was retrograde so its conjunction to Neptune introduced considerable confusion into Bradyn’s chances. The combined effect of transit Chiron, Mercury, and Neptune probably corresponded to the Giants’ defense putting heavy pressure on Brady all game long.

Overall, this was a drastically different alignment of transits than what Brady had experienced in years past and it showed in the final outcome.

Super Bowl 46 (Loss): Patriots 17, Giants 21

This rematch with the opponent that beat him last time did not fare much better this time around. While Brady was once again enjoying the alignments from the transit Sun and Mercury, there really was not much else for him to work with. The double quincunx from transit Mars (which was also retrograde) and Moon to natal POV threw a wrench in the works, but the transiting South Node’s alignment to his natal POF and Mars represented the most serious limitation to any luck or fortune he would experience. Still, it was a close game, as evidenced by the positive testimony from Sun and Mercury, but there were not enough supporting aspects to come away with the victory. Super Bowl 42 and 46 are good examples of the ceiling on Brady’s ability to win when the “stars are not aligned” with him.

Super Bowl 49 (Win): Patriots 28, Seahawks 24

This is one of the wildest Super Bowl games in this study. Both teams were evenly matched, so there was no clear favorite prior to the game. The chart reflects this as well. There are both challenging and supportive aspects to the POV and its lord.

The t-square configuration (brown lines) with transit Saturn at the apex probably represents Seattle’s “Legion of Boom” defense that frustrated Brady all game. This configuration is not a deal breaker because it involves a dignified benefic, transit Venus. As the lord of the POV, Saturn’s status at the apex infers that Brady would have to work hard for the win, but there was also support coming from Venus and Neptune.

But the support to offset this challenging configuration is overwhelming. As with most of these games, the transit Sun has returned to its position activating Brady’s natal POV lord. His natural competitiveness was once again elevated and on display. This time the Sun was also on a perfect position to assist and support other key dynamics in Brady’s chart. The trine aspects to natal POF and Mars also weighed heavily in favor of his luck in this game. But the trine to natal Pluto and the transit North Node were huge. Brady was going through his nodal return at this game so the impact of the Sun’s activation of both his lord and this nodal return cannot be overstated. And while the Sun was aspecting the lord from one end, transit Jupiter (the greater benefic) was aligning with that lord by conjunction on the other. These sets of alignments were powerful enough to guarantee Brady’s elite performance in this game and earn him another MVP award.

But would this be enough? Like Super Bowl 42, Mercury was once again retrograde. This time, it was out of orbit of the POV and its lord. It was making a quincunx aspect to the POF lord (Mercury), but without the direct hits to the POV and its lord it is possible that any mistakes or bad decisions would not cause Brady to lose the game (although, he did throw two interceptions). In fact, transit Mercury was also making trine aspects (like the Sun) to natal POF, natal Mars, natal Pluto, and transit North Node. In other words, any bad decisions or mistakes stemming from this Mercury may actually help his chances. And this manifested late in the game. With only seconds left on the clock, Seattle was on New England’s one yard line. Seattle had one of the best running backs in the league, Marshawn Lynch, on their team. Lynch was a bruiser who had proven numerous times that he could not be tackled by one defender. Sometimes it took three or four defenders to take him down. The game appeared to be in the bag for Seattle. Unfortunately, retrograde Mercury had one final act of shenanigans. In a decision that has been agonized over for years (again, retrograde review), Seattle decided not to run the ball. They passed instead. New England intercepted. The game was over. The magic of Brady’s chart had once again taken down an opponent in the biggest game imaginable. While retrograde Mercury had burned Brady in Super Bowl 42, here it helped him and his team to win.

Super Bowl 51 (Win): Patriots 34, Falcons 28

This Super Bowl game was quintessential Brady. Late in the third quarter, Atlanta had built a huge lead with a score of 28 – 3. Many thought the Brady and New England were dead. But as we have seen with Brady’s chart, his energies are specifically configured to thrive in exactly these types of scenarios. He is at his most dangerous when he is behind and everyone is doubting him.

The reason that Brady was so behind probably has much to do with transit Pluto and Neptune. Both huge gods were putting tremendous pressure on his charts through hard aspects. Transit Pluto was quincunx his natal POV lord and square his natal nodal axis. Transit Neptune was also in square aspect to his natal POF and Mars. These aspects made it seem like his luck had run out and that a loss was eminent.

Fortunately, Brady’s POV and lord were aligned with one of the most unpredictable and creative astrological configurations, the mystic rectangle. Comprised of both challenging and supportive aspects, these configurations have a reputation for coming up with solutions and creating things that no one could predict. Usually, the oppositions symbolize some type of situation that must be balanced or realized using the resources and supports from the trine and sextile aspects. It can be a bit tricky to manage this configuration, but if it is done correctly then the individual driving this alignment of energies can “pull a rabbit out of a hat.” They can appear like magicians to the rest of the world. One spine of this rectangle involved Brady’s natal nodal axis and the transiting opposition between Uranus and Jupiter. This is a signature for surprising, break through success that would become part of destiny. The other axis involved (once again) the transit Sun activating his POV and lord. While two of the outer planets tried to bury Brady, he was able to use the magic of this mystic rectangle to escape defeat and pull a win out of thin air. He beat Atlanta in overtime, overcoming the largest deficit in playoff history and immortalized himself in the process. Brady became legend with this game (heavy focus from the nodes).

Super Bowl 52 (Loss): Patriots 33, Eagles 41

In yet another wild upset, the favored Brady threw for a Super Bowl record 505 yards…but lost the game. This rollercoaster shoot out is reflected in the chart.

Because this Super Bowl is just one year removed from his last (back-to-back appearances), both outer planet square aspects were still in place. In fact, the squares from Pluto and Neptune were almost exact (partile) by game time. This means that Brady had another fierce battle ahead of him like last year’s themes. The problem was that last mystic rectangle was nowhere to be found in this chart.

Would Brady be able to overcome these challenges? He sure as hell was going to try. With the t-square configuration involving his POV and lord, Brady became a little engine of motivation. With transit Jupiter at the apex of this configuration, and transit Sun – Venus at the base, he exploded. Brady essentially carried the team on his shoulders. But why was he raising his game? Transit Jupiter’s dispositor, Mars, offers clues. Transit Mars was also involved in a t-square configuration as well. It was attacking Brady’s natal POF and Mars as well as his POF lord, Mercury. These attacks on Brady’s fortune and luck turned this game into a war. It exaggerated Jupiter’s function to expand, which exponentially expanded Brady’s performance at the apex of its own t-square. If he going to lose, he was going down fighting.

The conundrum was the transiting nodal axis. At first glance, its alignment with Brady’s lord and POV may appear to equate to victory, but we must look at each end separately. With the North Node aligned with his lord, this represented Brady elevating his performance and competitiveness, but the South Node aligned with his POV indicates, unfortunately, that it would be in a losing effort.

Overall, this is an incredibly complex chart to judge. It would have been extremely difficult to predict the outcome ahead of time based upon the conflicting dynamics. Life is complicated. Sometimes we put in our best effort, but still lose. It happens. It happened to Brady and the chart reflects this complexity.

Super Bowl 53 (Win): Patriots 13, Rams 3

The chart for this Super Bowl is one of the most straight forward out of all the games analyzed in this study. One of the most immediately noticeable dynamics is that the challenging aspects from transit Pluto and Neptune that heavily impacted the past two Super Bowls are waning and almost out of orb. It is possible that their influence still manifested, but to a much lower degree. The low score to this game is probably due to transit Saturn’s square to Brady’s ascendant – descendant axis. This game was a defensive struggle, but since Saturn was not specifically aspecting Brady’s natal POV and lord then it did not impact his ability to win. In that regard, the kite configuration involving transit Jupiter, transit Sun – Mercury – natal POV (apex), transit Mars, and natal Saturn (POV lord) offered a compelling alignment of energies supporting a successful outcome for Brady in this particular contest. It should be noted that Brady did not win MVP for this game and this is probably again attributed to Saturn’s lock down of his ascendant – descendant axis.

Super Bowl 55 (Win): Buccaneers 31, Chiefs 9

This was Brady’s first and only Super Bowl after moving from New England to Tampa Bay. He was the underdog in this game as he was in many other times in his career.

There are a few challenging dynamics in this chart, but they are largely overshadowed by the overwhelming number of supportive aspects. The transit Sun has returned once again to its position at Brady’s natal POV and opposing his lord. Additionally, the stellium of transiting planets (two benefics and a dignified Saturn) in Aquarius were forming trine aspects to Brady’s natal POF and Mars while the transiting North Node also aligned with these significant points. The combined delineation of all these characteristics feels like a coronation and celebration of Brady’s legacy.

The transiting Mars t-square may appear a bit threatening, but it is debilitated in the sign of Taurus, ruling the 7th house of others, and square Mercury retrograde. As a result, Kansas City set the record for the most penalties in one half of play. Of course, with this aligning with Brady’s POV and lord, he was able to capitalize on all their mistakes.

Final Thoughts

From this brief analysis, the POV is a powerful component of fate that is often overlooked. When considering someone’s potential for success, especially in competition, it is essential to consider the combined impact of the POF and POV. In this regard, I would strongly recommend giving priority to those connections between the lords of these lots/parts.[vii] It important to analyze and discuss, in detail, what success means and what factors influence it. Because the ripple of this understanding reach far and wide. It impacts everything.

[i] It is not entirely our fault that we tend to view life completely in terms of the will because effort and work are easily observable. Fate is not. Unless one studies astrology, they cannot analyze the components and characteristics of fate (or chance) in an individual life. Logically, if we cannot see something then it compels us to conduct our lives as if it does not exist or to just focus our attention on what is observable. In so many ways, astrology is an absolute revolution to this philosophical foundation because it brings visibility to this massive area lying hidden behind the scenes.

[ii] Of course, this will require that you first calculate the part of spirit. This calculation can be done as follows:

Day Chart: Ascendant + Sun – Moon, Night Chart: Ascendant + Moon – Sun

[iii] Technically, most astrologers would not consider a configuration of it is comprised of non-physical or calculated points, but the correlation between the cradle and Woods’ life is difficult to ignore. If nothing else, we can say that the supportive planets greatly enhanced the manifestation of his POV.

[iv] This opposition is probably also a reflection of Brady’s fierce competitiveness (which is like the opposition between Jordan’s POV lord and Mars).

[v] It should also be noted that the start time for all Super Bowl locations on the East Coast start around 6:00 pm. This puts the ascendant in Leo and within proximity to Brady’s Sun. This is another minor alignment that leans the game towards him.

[vi] Football is a team-based sport, but it should be noted that the quarterback position has been widely recognized as not only the most important position in football, but the most important position in all of sports, period. It is a rare occurrence that a team wins the Super Bowl if they do not have a good quarterback.

[vii] Regarding sports, this analysis also points to the possibility of judging football games based upon alignments to these parts for the athletes at the quarterback position. More work will need to be done in this area to see if the trends analyzed with Brady hold up with other quarterbacks. If so, then analyzing the POV and POF could become a significant area of evaluation when drafting quarterbacks.
